R.I.P. Jerry Leiber



Jerry Leiber, who with songwriting partner Mike Stoller helped forge entire chapters in the early history of rock and roll, has died at the age of 78.
For The Coasters they wrote "Charlie Brown," "Searchin'," "Yakety Yak," "Young Blood" and "Poison Ivy."
They penned "Stand By Me" and "Spanish Harlem" for Ben E. King, and "On Broadway" and "There Goes My Baby" for The Drifters. They also scored hits for Peggy Lee ("Is That All There Is?" and "I'm a Woman"), LaVern Baker ("Saved") and The Clovers ("Love Potion #9"), among others.
