Bedtime accessories, Sleep mask

Sleep mask is a real classic. Here's Audrey as Holly Golightly wearing a very cute sleep mask in "Breakfast at Tiffany's"

Dita for Moschino

This one i would love to have! MJ Dangerous sleep mask! That one is sadly out of stock at the moment (but you can get a White Eyes mask...)

Cat Eye glasses sleep mask, pretty funny idea. And Rhinestones!

But this mask is my #1 favourite, hahaha!
My friend Mirkka send me a message the other day and said that she has something for me. It was this cool sleep mask! When i first saw it i thought that "those eyes look familiar somehow...". I turned out that they are my eyes! I was modeling for Mirkka few years back and she desided to use my eyes from one of the pics for the mask.
I was really honoured :D
And now i can pretend to be awake while sleeping!

Sunday, Hat Club, museum, dumpster diving

I'm wearing:
Vintage hat
vintage sweater
second hand skirt
50s handbag

This month our Hat Club went to the National Museum of Finland.
The exhibition "Faithful friends-Royal dogs and horses"was lots of fun! You know the kind of exhibitions that are for the whole family, where you can do things, not just look at things. There were pieces of a knights armor you could try on...
..and historical riding costumes! I also tried out the saddle for ladies.

 A funny tall-case clock
You might think these are some old Chinese works of art, but they are from Finland..

Chandelier in the Lutheran church exhibition

 Madonna

 Marvelous

And yes, dumpster diving!  Here's just some of the clothes after washing. We made really great finds! We had bags filled with 20s-30s-40s dresses, coats, suits, hats... An old (about 90-years old) lady died and they emptied the cellar. And all those wondeful dresses were about to go to the dump!
I have beautiful dresses for next summer, 40s beach wear and amazing 30s evening gowns. I'l be posting pics later...

Fiona Timantti Millinery LOVES Bernie Dexter!

YES! The pin-up goddess Bernie Dexter wearing Fiona Timantti hats!
She is just amazingly beautiful, inside and out.

Also check out her website and boutique! This black "Henrietta" swing coat dress is divine

Oh, vanity...

 Old photo found here

 Rita Hayworth

Barbara Stanwyck. I love that dress!

Jean Harlow. A bit too much, don't you think?

Greta Garbo. The wonderful Greta.

This is my old vanity. It's from the 50's and it's super cute! I just don't have room for it anymore, since i got a new one, a bit older, art deco style vanity. I would like to keep them both..
You like it? Buy it! :)

Bix want's to be the center of the attention, as usual.

The photo of Rita and Barbara are from Bonnie's blog, here's a link to her post back in 2009. Lot's of pics of movie stars and their vanities!

Halloween inspiration 2011

I love halloween. I'm very inspired by old horror movies, vintage halloween pin-ups and vampire stories ( no, i still haven't seen Twilight..). This year i'm olso very inspired by 80s/90s horror movies (and horror comedy, oh my..). I have to watch these movies again.

The Witches of Eastwick (1987) Look at all that hair!

Death Becomes Her (1992)

The Addams Family (1991) Anjelica is marvelous.

There are lots of great halloween inspration movies, these are just the ones that i really want to watch this year.
I have two halloween partie i'm going to, one in Helsinki and one in Tampere. I'm probably gonna go dressed as a vampire. Again. (But this post proves that i'm not always dressed up as a vampire.)

If i have time, i will be making a huge lace headpiece that is a mixture of Lucy's headpiece in Dracula and the spanish mourning veil.
Amazing!

Witness wild, weird, and wonderful feats of human marvel as you are transported into the opulent underworld of “The Champagne Circus”

--"THE CHAMPAGNE CIRCUS" is Helsinki's newest, most decadent club night to date. Situated in the main hall of ‘Vanha Ylioppilastalo’, with a star studded cast of award-winning, international artistes purveying the finest in modern circus and cabaret - whilst evoking the timeless spirit of the gender bending, erotic badlands of Weimar Berlin and it’s notorious variety shows.--

Yes, people! It's back! And the list of performers is unbelievable! Lada Redstar. Amazing Ari. Wow! I'm so very honoured to be dj'ing there.
More info in facebook and Champagne Circus Blog.
You can buy tickets from Tiketti.

Sailor outfit, Hat Club, summer

We had our monthly Hat Club meeting (this was the meeting before the last months meeting, sadly i didn't make it to the last meeting). Guess what pic inspired my outfit that day (remember this post?).

Me and my friend Hanna. We met in millinery school.
I'm wearing:
hat, blouse and skirt second hand
shoes 70's
sunglasses 90's does 30's
skarf made for that outfit

My favourite pic. (She looks so cute there, in the middle wearing the most adorable straw hat.)

The next meeting will be held 25th of september. You are welcome to join us. More info in Facebook.

Dita Von Teese perfume

The Opulent Odeur of the Femme Totale.
Dita Von Teese presents her first perfume, a signature scent, “Dita Von Teese”.

--“Dita Von Teese” – an extremely sensual perfume, perfectly feminine, exciting, and mysterious. Dita Von Teese created a timeless scent which opens with a head note composed of fresh peonies, fizzy bergamot, and slightly spicy Bourbon pepper. The heart of the perfume beguiles the senses with a full and at the same time pure bouquet of Bulgarian rose, Tahitian Tiaré petals, and fresh jasmine. And in the base note, the mystical and warm scents of patchouli, musk, and smoky Gaiac wood and sandalwood captivate all who smell it. “A scent needs to reflect all the different facets of my personality. It had to be elegant, glamorous, sophisticated, sexy, dark, and mysterious,” says Dita Von Teese, characterizing her odeur.--

Sounds good, eh? I usually don't buy perfumes that are named after a celebrity, but this sounds like my kind of scent. And the bottle is nice.
What do you think?

That pic reminds me of Rita Hayworth or maybe Jean Harlow...

Diamond Stash Speakeasy 2!

Few weeks ago it was time for Ravintolapäivä once again. I was hosting a cocktail party"Diamond Stash Speakeasy" at my atelier. I was so glad that so many people came, especially many of my dear friends and customers. Unfortunately i didn't really have time to chat because i was mixing drinks all the time...
Photos were taken by Ville Kekäläinen.

That black wig is my favourite. The beaded dress is from Ansa and earrings by Tyra Therman.

It was fun to let people try on my hats and tell them about Maria (the founder of the place) and her work.

Some of the guests even danced. I was playing jazz, swing, little bit of electro swing etc.

Cointreau was a smash hit! Just like last time.
And my friend Allu was kind enough to come and make me a "Fiona Timantti" drink!

Here's the Cointrea brochure with our drinks
Yep, my drink :)
For a Fiona Timantti you'll need:

2 cl Cointreau
1 cl Bols Melon
1 cl Rémy Martin Coeur de Cognac
1,5 cl lime juice
1 cl sugar syrup
1/3 vanilla stick (decoration)

Shake and strain into a martini glass and decorate with the vanilla stick.
